never thought about this till now. I am wondering what is the most efficient trans behind this engine.

had a 4l80e trans but it was sold....

looking for opinions on this...

I'm thinking the 6L80E would do nice, but not seen one done yet, would need a standalone controller.

I think the NV4500 with the extra gear works better than the torque converter setup in the 4L80E.
 
5 speed would be ok but I need to use a automatic for this.

A standalone controller may be expensive but I dont consider it any different than the tcm in the 93 4l80's. Try the 6l80 with a stand alone, it would be nice to see it done!
