What are the symptoms of a PMD about to fail? I know I read it here some where, I got a 2000 6.5 TD, 126k, and driving down the road the motor will stop. no sputter or cough just stop. I put it in neutral or Park and it re starts easily.

I plan on replacing PMD, oil sensor, battery cables and lift pump. anything else I need to look at? this isn't a daily driver, just an excuse to get away from Mrs Drago

This link is a good place to start. Check/clean all of your grounds too while you are doing the rest of the stuff.

Keep in mind that ignition switches also fail.

If you lose the dash/instruments but the radio and blower motor keep working-consider the ignition switch as a potential source of the problem.

cruise kicks out on it's own, like it's possessed. code 36, has appeared in one of my PMD failures,, but stalling with restart is #1

Check the grounds on the last intake stud (Pass side) and the one on the tranny dipstick stud.......Remove, CLEAN, reinstall tight.

Just to rule it out....
