o.k. i have a 95 ive had for 2.5 years. The best tank empty was 16.7 once. In 2011 i took it to michigan with no trailer. it got around 16 mpg. Well over the weekend i took my equipment trailer to michigan loaded. I had a little over 18,000 lbs gross total. 65 mph to 70 mph. At between 2200 rpms and 2500 rpms. And it got 12.9 then 12.6 then i put some tcw3 2 cycle oil in the fuel and it got 13.7. And even the hills on i-35 it would just want to climb like a son of a b. The on ly mods are exhaust and air cleaner. It only, in the over 100 degree weather still only barely climed to 200 degrees and the boost was 5 to seven.althogh it did use 2 qts of oil. t was 1026 miles,This old truck impressed me. Is this weird or what? thank you much:)

oh and one more thing before i hear people say i might be wrong on the weight, i went across the scales and it was 18,130 pounds i thought for sure i was gonna have problems. and their was none. thanks

I wont doubt your numbers! Ive towed heavier w/o problems

I got ~11 hauling 12 bales of hay behind my 93 and 10 with my oversized tractor (see avatar) and never ran hot either time (towing in 110*). When i was younger and Ol' Blue was still road worthy it would average 12-14 towing(on road) and 16-17 unloaded. Oil usage seems normal to me loaded heavy and I find i get slightly better mpg's with 2stroke or ND 30wt, maybe not enough to pay for the oil but its a piece of mind thing when the engine runs quieter.

My 95 and 93 both ran better after towing than before.

That sounds about on par. I have towed weighing over 20000 from kansas to Florida, and got about 11 mpg. With 4:11's I rarely beat 15 mpg emptyunless I just barely touch the pedal all the time.

i think its the 4.10 gears and the 29 inch tall tires. it seems my other truck i had with 3.73 and 31 inch tires got better mileage empty, but a lot worse loaded and less power while loaded too.too. thanks

Thats my thoughts too, I run 31's with 4.10s but get nearly the same results. Sounds like a good work horse, Keep running it hard!
