Motorcity .. what's left of it
Good morning all ... my 04 has developed a condition where, upon starting from a stop, vibrates up to about 10mph after which is smooths out (vibration comes back at 40mph then goes away again). I have checked the u-joints on the rear drive shaft and found the carrier bearing was bad. Had it replaced - did not correct the issue. I am going to check the front end (have 4wheel drive) this weekend. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions - I am starting to think it may be transmission realated (possibly torque converter?) since it only occurs during accelerating from a stop and goes away once reaching normal speeds (and is considerably worse when pulling the trailer). Any ideas will be welcomed - thanks!

I had same problem. as wierd as it sounds, it went away when I changed transfer from ATF to 5-30 oil. has'nt done it now for 10k

Welcome to DH Brian!
Check your front hubs too. They will cause an intermittent shake if worn. Since you haven't filled out your sig we arent quite sure of the actual details of your truck but I'd suggest you jack up the front end and grab each wheel top and bottom to see how much play is there.

Hello, did you ever get the vibration figured out? It sounds like a u-joint driveshaft issue. Have you changed your suspension in any way?

If the shop that replaced the carrier bearing did not reinstal the driveline back with the alignment dots then your driveline could now be out of balance. The drivelines in our trucks are balanced and can go in 180 degrees out but will only be properly balanced if aligned with the factory marks.
Just my .02 from my past experience.
