My vac pump never worked to begin with when I purchased it. The only thing it drives as far as I can tell is the EGR which is now sitting in the bottom of my junk box. I put a freeze plug and a plate over the hole. I priced new pumps and they ain't cheap and it looks like a PITA to change. I have an idea just to replace the pump with an electric one that's for a Cummins.

What do you guys think?

Delete it all together ??? those of us who are turboed with C or K 1500s (L56) EGR engines delete the vac pump in entirety and run a shorter belt, yours being a 95 OBD-I the PCM is "blind" to presence of vac for the EGR or WG control(turbo engines) OBD-IIs somwhat trickier but can be done.

If all you truly have is EGR to vac pump, easy to tell go to pump and follow the line and see what is connected to it if EGR only as you mention you are golden, run a 1 " shorter belt I think and you will be fine, I say I think because I'm not sure of the belt routing/length on a N/A engine, you may need to grab several belt lengths and try best one that keeps tensioner happy, & take back the ones that don't work.

L65 guys (non EGR) if retaining the GM turbo only need to do a vac pump delete and add a Turbo master mechanical WG control
