Vacuum pump rebuild-able?

A few years ago my vacuum pump started making a ticking noise, like an exhaust leak, intermittent at times, most noticeable when hot. I could see sometimes at idle the WG actuator wasn't fully sucked up, almost all the way but I could still push it another 1/4" or so. Did a vacuum test and had less then 30hg from the pump at idle. Once rpm's came up a bit so did the suction.

Anyways, point is my vacuum pump is loud and doesn't suck like it should(I think my boost is affected too) so I think it's time to fix it. Seems I can buy the whole thing, or just the round hamburger part(half the price of the whole pump). Is the round thing the diaphragm and will replacing that make it suck like new?

Thanks

Eliminate it. Shorter belt, and $110.00 for a turbo master.

Otherwise replace it after checking all hoses and elbows for leaks including the turbo vac can. A leak can make the pump work harder than it should.

The Hamburger should do it, unless the cam like lobe in the base is worn out. Pull the hamburger and check the lobe for damage first.

IIRC 20-25 hg's is all that's necessary to operate. Is the waste gate sticky? The actuator could also be the problem.

The noise could just be a metal cover on the inlet that vibrates.
