Anyone see an improvement? Just did mine today. Looks nice with less junk on front of motor and vac lines removed.

Not sure how some of you were able to remove the vac pump without removing the a/c bracket... those 10mm bolts were hard to reach from the back side of pump. I removed the bracket and pump as a unit, removed vac pump, and reinstalled (bracket). Piece of cake.

Also not sure about comments concerning bolts going in to block... None of mine did; they all tightened into the a/c brackets (and 2 studs on water pump/timing cover). Is this a 95 only thing, something that is different on other years?

Someone also asked if a code would appear if you took off the connector for the vac lines... mine did not code (but I do have a KOJO chip).

Side note- my belt length with CS144 alt is now 101 inches (previous was102.5)

Nice job! Keep an eye on the belt tensioner, though ... I think the right length for your application is going to be 100" .. the damn things stretch.

My mileage also went up when I got rid of the vac pump and put a TM on. It went up again when I got rid of the TM and put an ATT on.:smile5:

Belt length appears good. Drove 150 miles today, tensioner is smack dab in middle. I finally start a new job next week, and will be driving it daily. Will keep an eye on it but for now the 1.5 inch shorter belt seems on target.

Watch that Duralast, last one I had didn't,

Dayco used to be the one I went with until the one I put on Thursday was all stretched out by Friday afternoon,

I tried a Goodyear Gatorback it also stretched within the week it was installed.

I just came from NAPA & bought their HD one under their name of Fleet Runner, made by Gates which is brand Bill H recommended.

It's green p/n 060994HD which is a 99-7/8" or 2537 mm as marked on the box, it just barely fits the pulleys/tensioner

I used Napa P/N 25-060988 99 1/2 " by lookup, it was the tightest belt yet I've tried had to have a helper hold the tensioner, and I had to use a screwdriver to force it over the tensioner. It stretched out to tight side of specs.

Also by Gates. Purchased last weekend.

I also used I NAPA belt at 99 7/8 IIRC. The tighest belt I ever installed. After loosining the alternator bolts and ac compressor bolts, having a buddy hold the tensioner, I tapped it on with a soft mallet. It did not stretch as much as I thought like most everyone else said, but it still did stretch a little. Napa must have some good belts. I did not notice any change in mileage. That sucker doesn't take much to turn. Just another POS dead weight off of my baby's back, but then again, it isnt like it is very heavy anyways. Probably the same as the difference between the stock harmonic balancer and my fluidamper.

No F'n way I can get a 100 inch belt on mine. That 101 was God awful, bloody f'n tight.

I haven't checked mileage really yet with my new harmonic, but did notice a slightly smoother engine at all speeds, I think. :)

I'd love to get some MPG's out of the vac pump, but like you just glad to see it gone!
