My son is lookijg at a 2002 Chev 3500 diesel flatbed for pulling 13,000 +/_ lb trailer combo. Asking price is $10,500.00. Any comments on price.

I am assuming it would have the Allison trans. but it doesn't say so in add.
We are basically new to diesel pickups. Any thing in particular we need to look for when we go look at it? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dewayne

If it has an automatic, it's an Allison. The price seems respectable regardless of mileage.

The LB7 did have some issues with injectors, however GM extended a special warranty on them for 7 years or 200K. You may want to check with the seller to see if it has ever had its injectors replaced.

Thanks Grady for the info. I though it would be the Allison but not sure.

I think my son has backed out on this truck for now. My advice to him was get a 2006-7 lbz instead. He wants a flat bed 3500 dually and he found this one on eBay that was in his price range.
There were only 2-3 flatbeds there so I think he though he couldn't find another one. It is true there are fewer flatbeds for sale though or from what we have been able to find.
I told him if nothing else he could buy a regular truck and remove the bed and make his own flatbed body. He is an excellent welder so would be no problem to do. Then he could sell old bed.

Thanks again

If he ends up with a flat bed tell him to come join us over in the Flat Bed Club here on DTR:D

you know I never asked why you put a flat bed on your truck?

I need a flat bed for work.................. welding, hauling animal feed, tools, hauling my backhoe w/ goosneck. The flat bed makes it much easier for a man who works with the things I work with everyday.
Still ain't complete.......far from it............. plan to add more side boxes, air compressor.........trough the center of the bed for ease of hooking g/n up.......on and on

I was going to guess that. Life would become more "sore" if you had to reach over the bed everytime you had to get something huh.

He could get a Ford, they has those nice -what does Howie call them- man steps. :)

hahaha. isnt that like a 1000 dollar option? I know on the ram it has the boxes built into the sides of the bed which is pretty sweet, not so much for the 1900 dollar price tag though! I couldn't beleive it was that much when I was "building and pricing" on dodges site.
