i just did some "Tests". pedal to the floor from 0 to 45 first i had the usual puff of smoke but then i had a slight haze so if i get this turbo without a GL4 i should gain a lttle horsepower. this is because the turbo will flow more air elimnating the slight haze at lower boost because its doing the same job as the GM8 at lower boost. so the turbo will flow more air then what the stock GM8 is doing so when more air is being flowed the computer wont notice because the turbo is still at a lower PSI then stock. am i correct?

I would think the puter wouldn't see much difference from a Turbomastered GM-8. Don't forget too, it takes less engine power to spin the ATT to make the boost compared to the GM-8. Less Backpressure.

212 isn't the max. I hooked up my snap-on scanner and was reading IAT's pulling 9000 lbs up 6-7% grades going over the Sierra Nevada Mtns. and I saw 303 degrees and didn't have defueling with stock ECM. That was why I did the charge air cooler.

303 degrees ??

Ok, the A-team turbo works on our engine with a good fuel system and a sound engine. The turbo will not fix an engine that has an over fueling problem or other performance problems caused by worn or malfunctioning parts. I am not sure about a slight black haze coming from your exhaust with a gm -8 turbo. The slight black haze tells me that you have unburned fuel comming out of the exhuast. I do not have and didn't have a slight black haze from my truck with either turbo. I would suggest that the fuel problem should be examined, and the root cause found before purchasing any replacement parts. Turbo or other fuel system parts. You may have a watse gate that is not closing all of the way.

Do you have any scan data, when this event (slight black haze) is going on? I would love to sell a Turbo, but, if the turbo doesn't fix the smoking then what? I hope you undersatnd that I am not trying to sell you something under false pretenses, I would rather you are happy with the turbo then mad at me for selling a turbo under less than honest circumstances. I hope this makes sense.

im actually starting to think im seeing things or something because i swear i saw a very light haze. it wasnt like a big cloud of black smoke just a little. slim im not trying to buy your turbo to get rid of this problem that i think is happening.

from reading your posts and seeing all the research and data you did to back up this turbo i can see you are a very honest guy. i would never think you are selling me this turbo under false pretenses. tommorow ill do some accerlation tests to see if any black smoke comes out again. BTW i had 1000 pounds of mulch in the bed today of the truck. at 3/4 throttle there was no smoke so maybe im just seeing things.

This is a common sight, when humidity/air condition is perfect it's been happenening as long as I can remember on these forums, people claim to see the 'smoke' especially in the headlights of cars behind them. No worries. If it was smoke, you'd see smoke. You are pumping alot of combustion gasses into the air out your exhaust pipe.

i know i see gray/black trails behind my truck at WOT running ~14-15 psi non-intercooled w/ a GM-5. A friend driving behind me says it's all diesel smoke by the smell of it(not unburnt diesel). Turbo swap is on my upgrade list....just have to be able to afford it first.

If its been awhile since any full throttle driving or towing, this is normal, your just blowing the carbon off the pistons, precups and exhaust.

I think this is why sometimes when first towing a heavy load, after about thirty miles it seams to pull better. My 92 atleast acted this way, I think the carbon would partially build up and take up space in the combustion chamber(less room for boost/oxygen), after you got it blowed out it seamed like you gained 20hp. I know it sounds crazy.
