My son took over old faithful, on cool and cold mornings the truck will start with no problem even on the coldest days this past winter with out plugging in. The truck will start run for a few mins then die, then need to cycle the switch a couple times and will start right back up. After 3-4 times of this when the truck builds up temp the truck will start and run all day. I did have a fuel leak at the FFm prior but I fix that with Leroys parts and put on another lift pump from leroy, did check fuel pressure at the FFM has good fuel pressure. Could I be getting air on the return side? There is no visible fuel leaks under the truck or in the valley of the engine. Thank you for any input. My son wants to come to the duramax side as have.

Air leaks may not leak out fuel.

Check for codes.

Wiggle test PMD wires cold.

Almost sounds like a dirty sock, but it should be a consistent problem. I'd be checking fuel delivery. Next time it happens pop the FFM filter out and check level in FFM.
Did you get the relay harness with pump too? Wondering if OPS is bad, but it shouldn't kill the engine?

Bog-down / sputter and die, or just go flat-line?

If it is bog-down and die, am with the others in terms of fuel delivery.

If it is a sudden flat-line, am with Leroy for leaning toward electrical.

I did not get the relay, the ops I switched out around 5 yrs ago. the truck does start bogging down, spits and sputter then dies. I think it is fuel delivery also. How long of clear hose do I need?

Iirc about 5". Usually sold by the foot, so you'll have an extra chunk when you replace it. 1/4" diameter.

Between the clear line and a fuel pressure gauge before the ip and the drain valve, 95% of fuel diagnostics can be tested.

The OPS and sometimes the lift pump usually don't last over 1 year. Lift pump and OPS diags are here:

OMG 1991 Olds Bravada in your sig? Sorry but what a pile of poo that ride has gotta be! Hopefully it doesn't have the 4 wheel ABS on it that was good for just releasing the brakes 100% for you. Horrid handling standard. Our 1992 crapada also randomly didn't start till you cranked it twice. The 1995 is 10x times the reliable ride vs. the 1991 Olds!
