We just got back from 4 days at Lincoln State Park in Indianna. Overall I have to say its a great place to stay. This was our second year, and we actually wound up gettting the exact same spot as last year.

We camped in spot 72 in the Lake Lincoln electric campground. The area is well wooded, and we were in shade most of the day (maybe a little early morning sun, but not too bad). The roads are narrow and winding, so some people had a bit of trouble backing into their sites. #72 is about 75 yds from the showerhouse. The spot was mostly level, and had the usual amenities. It was lacking a pole to hang the coleman lantern on, however. None of the spots had them. All hookups were close by.

The showerhouse was clean, and stocked. Shower temperature was variable. Weird thing, all the showerheads only stuck away from the wall about 3 inches, and pointed straight down. Kinda hard to wash everything that way...

The park was full of people going to Holliday World (ourselves included) and it was packed. There was the usual kid-noise, but it wasnt ever too rowdy. However, the worthless bastard in the next camp area over who left his dog out to bark non-stop all day and evening needs a boot in his ass.

It's only about 6 miles from holiday world, and from what I hear, MUCH MUCH more relaxing that the campground at the park (they rent golf carts to apparently anyone old enough to see over the wheel and dont care what you do with them, or when).

There is a nice lake in the park, just a short walk from the campground, with rowboat rentals, a good sized playground, a general store, and a beach with swimming. Other than the park, and holiday world, there aint SQUAT to do around there. Hell, even the nearest K-Mart is 20 miles away, which I discovered when I realized that I left my duffle with all my extention cords laying in the garage. Theres one gas station, one grocery store, and maybe a couple small cafe's. So dont go expecting a whole lot to do in the local area.

Getting there is easy, we came off i-64 onto 231 towards Dale. Signs pointed the way. There is a new 231 going in, and it will be sweet. its about half done, and where it ends, someone forgot to put a sign up pointing towards the park. (turn right). The Tom-Tom was all confused with the new construction, as it thought we were in some farmers field, so it was little help. When the road is fully done, it will wind up about halfway between the park and holidayworld.

Overall, I'd give lincoln state park 8 on a 10 scale

Tim
