hi does someone know why when you look at towing capacities fifth wheels are always higher for the same truck is it because 5fr is easier to pull or truck frames dont have strutural stenght on frame hitch does a 5fr thats high have more or less drag than a tow behind thanks
 
fifth wheel weights are higher due to the hitch mounting position. you can buy a bumper mt with higher capacities than come stock. a 5er is easier to tow due to the weight center being moved also. as far as drag, the trailer height dictates that. i'd imagine the same height trailer mounted 5th wheel will have a bit less drag because it is close to the tow vehicle, but not sure if it makes much noticable diff.
