Well I guess finally my truck has got the dreaded leaking transmission lines at 26,983 miles. Probably been leaking for a little while, but was not leaking about 5000 miles ago. I was crawling under the truck to change the oil and noticed the fluid on the lines at the front right area. I guess its those sorry crimps on the lines thats causing the problems. Is the only sure solution is to replace the lines? Since I am beyond the 3 years on the warranty I guess I am out of luck, getting the dealer to do anything. You guys have any ideas?

They might replace them under warranty but that might be a stretch. I do hear there are aftermarket lines available too if you would like to go that route. I've had mine replaced as well.

Thanks for the quick response Nick. Did you put factory lines back on? If so I would assume that GM has corrected the problem?

I guess I went a pretty good while without them leaking. I have had the truck since December 7, 2005 so I figured it was a matter of time. I am pretty tight with one of the service advisors at the dealership where I bought the truck so its worth a try. Of course since GM is in bad shape I might be lucky to get a soda pop from them.

Mine were covered under warranty but then again, I was at around 35k miles then. As far as I know, they put on factory lines but I've heard they're updated now. I dont know how true that is but they dont leak anymore.

If you have any of your normal maintenance done at the dealer then they may good will it under the warranty or backdate your milage. This is one of the few benifits of have any maintenance done at the dealer.

I would give it a shot on the warranty. Seems like every truck i have come in contact with had at least one line that leaks. I just did mine at 32K, but they started leaking much earlier.

As for an updated line...i wouldnt count on it. I dont know for sure, but i think they are replacing them with the same ones they came with. They havent been able to crimp a line starting with the 6.5 engine cooler lines.

Talked to the service advisor on Monday of this week and he talked like since I was beyond three years that I was pretty well on my own. He is a great guy and I think if he could pull it off as warranty work he would, but I can see the shape GM is in might be a factor. He talked like those lines leaked on an older 2500HD that he has. I would get new lines from the dealer, but I don't want to spend that kind of money and have them to leak again. I would want to be sure that they were good lines.
