Tranny & Diff gaskets

I am just going to do the fluid changes on my 07, 5.9 Cummins. 34,000 miles so I guess it's due. Somewhere I read that the tranny and diff. gaskets are rubber and reusable. Seems strange to me but I suppose it's possible.
Would like an opinion on this and how often the bands have to be adjusted. Is the band adjustment a difficult procedure.

If it's an auot the trans gasket should be a plastic one with a rubber insert and steel sleeves in it and is re-useable. As for the diff, can't help you there. They used to be RTV though.
