Time for plan B. I had started off with a roof rack to hold the spare tire see the link

Then wound up building/assembling a trailer hitch mount carrier.

Some off the shelf parts from Walmart and Harbor Freight. Less than $80ish and I think I'll be good.

I wound up usingtwo of the 12" hitch extenders. My camper hangs over the bumper so I had to get out past the camper. The second one was to raise the position of the tire mount piece.

Cost was almost $100

One of the pics above shows that I cut about 1.5" off the 12" hitch extension. This wa so it could pivot up/down.

Basically is just all slid together.
I still have to weld a piece on the tire mount part so I can have 2 lug studs & nut holding tire. Im also going to shim some of the joints and it wants to move from the slop.
