(his craigslist ad): an 85 chevy, 3/4 ton axles with 4.10 gears, headers with new 3 inch pipes to rear axle, turbo 350 with the 241 transfercase, but the engine is going bad. (we've yet to confirm this. Supposedly had a low end knock-but only heard it when he first started it up...) It runs well enough to drive a little, move it around and all but is going to need a new one. I do have a 350 available for $300 and could also install it for the right deal. (its in the bed of the truck, part of the trade) truck has about 8 inches of lift, clears 44 inch tires with no problem. (He included the 35's as part of the trade-they were rubbing on both sides of car hauler) it was built to go off road and is not street legal, but with a little work it is able to be made street legal. (needs all the electrical hooked up, needs the mud cleaned out of the 4th 35" tire, and needs bed reinforced or replaced. also needs transfer case shifter-its permanently in 4LO unless you unlock the hubs- then its in 2LO.)

has a clear title, has a newer cab, the tires dont have much tread in the centers, but have some on the outer lugs. the frame of the truck is solid, no weak spots, it has the normal surface rust on it like everyother car and truck has. the floor boards were a little rusty, and i put an extra crossmember above the trans so it has some sheetmetal on the floors. it does not have much rust, the box runners are bad, the box would need to be braced up but he just used it as a toy.

I'd like to get rid of the NP241 and find a NP205. I plan on getting rid of the medal bed and making a wooden bed. Fuel tank is in the bed- plan on leaving that - but building something around it to make it more secure and more protected. Haven't decided on whether I want to pull the homemade front lift springs out and block spacer out of back - but that would mean getting rid of the 35's and find 33's. If I don't get rid of the lift, I'll be looking for some 8" front lift springs (something a little more trustworthy). But...for the time being, its going to sit in my yard with the tarp over it.

What I want to know is why that isn't your truck hooked to the trailer in the picture??
You let a FURD do your trucks work??

I was waiting for that question, haha. I was actually planning on changing my injectors that day...cause as far as I know they have 160k miles on them, and I didn't feel like shooting holes in my piston rings...not to mention I was hoping chuck would pay for his own fuel (I ended up paying for it - but I'm happy to do it...though I'm wondering if I would've gotten better fuel mileage, haha). Also, my threesome of trailer wiring is fried and I haven't fixed my 7 pt plug yet.

The pic doesnt show a whole lot but it looks like you may have a D-60 in the front of that. I am going by how the hub necks down to the locking hub and the size of the blur for the front diff. I myself would keep the transfer case in it until you have a problem with it. Even the chain drive transfers can be quite tough for wheeling and have a much better low range ratio.

i asked my buddy chuck what he thought the front end was and his reply was "it doesn't have king pins, it's got ball joints" so...i guess it is a 44 unless you know something he doesn't...
