Timing marks

The crank and cam should be at 12 and the IP pointing at them at 6. Which I think would be the same as crank at 12, cam at 6, IP at 12

The crank turns twice for each cam turn, so if its 180 off, you could disconnect the IP with the Crank at 12 and turn the crank once around to get the cam at 12 too.

Last time I did this was a long time ago but I think the small channel guides on the inside of the sprockets line up with timing marks

That is correct only if you know where the crank mark is at, you got a 50/50 chance.You cant see the marks with timing cover on.

They are called key ways.
 
Found it. Wasn't sure if the mark I could see on the timing chain gear was the correct one with out turning the crank. Rotated and both the timing chain gear and the camshaft gear had a mark.
