On an engine with 177K on it, is the lower timing chain sprocket reusable vs. the standard chain stretch - Is the sprocket wear a concern or is the chain stretch the real cause of the slop in a set?

I need the 6.5 electronic crankshaft sprocket (one I have has 177K miles on it) to drop into the 6.2 conversion that has a low mile tight chain.

So do I get a new one or try the high mile sprocket and see? (Old chain was sold as scrap metal...)

It has been said by the "Unavailable resident timing chain and sprocket" all things 6.5 GURU....That sprocket wear is a factor most people overlook....The low points get worn, thus creating more "slop".

And if your in that far might as well change the whole shabang...

JMO-----As per GMCTD

I replace as a set with only cloyes sets. They are very tight in the sprockets. Melling and others I've tried are 150,000 mile loose right out of the box.
Rockauto sells just the sprocket seperate.
