well after this coming weekend i will have a new 3 inch down pipe to match my 3 inch straight pipe exhaust. and a new custom air intake setup. as of right now i do not have an EGT gauge but it will be at the top of the list soon enough. my question is will my 6.5 be ready for a lil more fuel, via a 1/4 turn of the pump or should i just leave it alone, or possibly an 1/8 of a turn would be better.

i also have all the parts waiting to build my new mechanical wastegate. but i have been waiting to get all the above parts installed before making the change, to increase the boost to around 10 psi max. currently i am building about 6 psi.

thanks for all the help...:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

oh yeah, this is just my weekend driver, not a heavy hauler, just looking to make the truck a little more fun. everyone tells me i can't leave shit alone. well i guess they are right.

I personally wouldn't turn up the fuel without an EGT gauge.you kind af need to see how close you're getting to the danger zone

ok well the consensus is to leave the ip alone until i get an egt gauge, well what about the homemade turbomaster. go ahead and build it and bump up the boost to 10psi, or should i wait until i can turn up the ip. i would think they would need to be adjusted together. don't you need more fuel to build better boost?

I would modify the wastegate actuator as soon as you can. After that it would be safe enough to turn up the fuel. The only time it will hurt your EGT is pulling a trailer, or trying to fly up a long steep hill at 80mph. I'd put the boost to max of 12psi. If you run around empty and arent drag racing all the time it wont be dangerous.

yeah i don't pull a trailer to often, if we go on long atv trips we pull the trailer with the ole lady's escalade anyways (more room). i think i will get the downpipe and the air filter in then drive it to see the difference and then bring it back in and do the wastegate and turn the pump up 1/8 to 1/4 turn. then soon i will get me an egt gauge so i can keep an eye on the temps.

air filter is done, downpipe installed, and home brewed turbomaster completed. took it out for a test drive and deffinent improvement. got about 11 pounds of boost and you can hear the turbo sing, music to my ears. the air filter i bought a 6 inch long piece of 4 inch aluminum pipe and a 4 inch air filter with a heat shield. alum pipe was $11 bucks delivered and the filter with shield was $30 bones delivered.

the downpipe i bought on ebay a place called ourdealsrock $80. great fitment and good price. the mechanical wastegate i just removed the factory piece and cut off the "bell" piece and threaded the rod reused the spring and cup washer piece. all in all it worked out well i would say. for $122.00 i think i did pretty good.

Nice work, ready for a little more fuel.

on the downpipe, I have been eyeing that same one. Does it come out to straight 3" OD. And does it come out underneath pointing straight to the back of the truck, or does it angle toward the passenger side rail at all? Thanks

yeah the downpipe is straight towards the back of the truck and it is in fact 3 inch which worked great for me cause my exhaust is 3 inch as well. i just butted the two together and used an exhaust strap style clamp and voila. oh and the downpipe has plenty of clearance as well. i would deff recomend the downpipe.
