I use energy suspension 3.1116R. You reuse your old shells. The part of the shell that bolts to the frame will need to be bent some twards the top half to hold the new insert tight. On Kennedy Diesel's web site[sorry no link] he has tech tips that show how to do it. I bought the inserts from summit racing. They also offer a kit that has the tranny/tc mount also. The energy suspension inserts cant twist inside the shells like the oem rubber can bacause they fill the shells more. I could dig up some pics if need be.

I saw a kit with engine/tranny mount combo kits but this is for my 93 w/ NV4500 (sorry shoulda mentioned that) and the one i saw was for auto trany's only. Thanks for the part # I found and ordered those :D

I will check out kennedy's site amd see what i can find.

A couple pics of a set I have on the bench waiting for the next engine install. You can see the curve I put in the bottom piece of the clamshell.I put them in the vice while they were apart and gave them a couple taps with a 3lb. hammer, I blasted and painted the clamshells while they were apart:thumbsup:IMG_1679_22.JPGIMG_1680_23.JPG

Barry, what about the vibration dampening that is supposed to be inferior to OEM "rubber" motor mounts......Or is this not an issue for you?

The energy Suspension Inserts are poly.....Correct?

Not a issue. Kennedy recommends them. Energy suspension doesn't list them for the diesels for some reason. I have them in 3 trucks now and any truck getting a different engine is getting them. The pics i posted in other threads show how the rubber inserts can twist inside the clamshell. The poly inserts can't twist and wedge because they fill the clamshell to the ends.

The factory mount that came out of my blazer was worse than the one above. I could twist the mount in the clamshell with one finger. Most of the rubber had physically disintegrated and was gone. I installed an OEM replacement mount since they were a whopping $9 each.

A word of warning on these mounts. Some replacements the steel is much thinner and the mounts can twist in the clamshell just by pushing on them by hand. When i helped a friend change motor mounts on his 95, we had to cover almost every parts store in the area that had them to find 2 with OEM steel thickness that held the rubber in place correctly.

Since my engine moves 2-3inches in each direction making a thud each time it stops one way or the other I am interested to see what mine look like.

my blazer's engine would thud when i revved it under the hood with the old passenger side motor mount. Couldn't hear it from inside the cab.

The thud turned out to be one of the exhaust manifold studs hitting the frame up front. It had been doing it for a long time, probably before i bought it since there's a wear mark on the frame.

The engine sits about 2 inches higher on that side with the new mount now so the old mount was beyond destroyed.

I'm pretty sure I need new mounts too, because my passenger side manifold is extremely close to the suspension. And the 3" downpipe is about impossible to install. Another one of those things I plan to do sometime. It might actually clear up some vibration and shifting jerks.

is there a good thread for install tricks and tips? I am trying to change out everything that has deteriorated to dampen vibration for a nice smooth ride.

I've never changed them with the engine in the truck. The driver's side was very challenging with the engine out. That was on 4wd trucks. You may be able to get your hand inside the frame on a 2wd to hold the nuts. You do have to lift the engine up to change them.

So, was there any perceptable difference in the cab with respect to transmission of vibration/noise?

Just curious because my wife can't stand the way the truck clatters and vibrates now. Poly mounts would be a "no go" if they increase nvh at all.

Cheers

Pulling heavy is what tweaked the mount in the pic. The truck that came from had a 5th wheel ball in it. With the crap chineese rubber parts out there now I wouldn't risk having to do it twice. It was a very slight increase in vibration but not a day and night difference. The tranny/transfer case mount was pretty mushy from oil getting on it. Oil has no effect on the polyurethane mounts. They are considerably more expensive than the $9 chineese rubber mounts. You get what you pay for.

Thanks, that's the info I was looking for...
