hello folks,

Corn harvest is finished, so it is time for me to head back to KS, and I need my money making truck, the 93 K2500. So its injector time!

I am in the process of aquiring an injector tester, and I have a new set of nozzles from rock auto. Genuine Bosch from India, IIRC.

I will soon have a set of 122K miled injectors pulled from a parts engine. depending on testing, these may be good enough, but I doubt it.

anyhow, I will need to either rebuild a set of factory ones, or re-set the pop PSI on the new 097 N/A injectors bought from Teds on e-bay, advertised as made in USA. I am starting to doubt that last part.

so, I need shims. where do I find them, what thicknesses do I need, how many, etc. could I get a shim supply by buying some cheap used takeout injectors off of e-bay and pirating their shims? would that be enough shims?

made in North america (minus mexico) and any reputable place in Europe known for quality would be appreciated, but not mandatory if that is the only rational option.

also, if anyone knows of a source of German or US/Canada nozzles so I can skip the india units in the future that would be great as well. (unless the india units are just spectacular in quality)

I figured there are a few how to threads on injector replacement or injector rebuilding, but no dedicated thread on injector rebuilding supplies, so I felt we needed one.

any input appreciated, thanks guys!

check out bk95td's threads he was doing pop testing.

Not too long ago a link was posted for shims but dang if I can remember where.

yes, I have made it through most of it. very good read.
the only shim source I saw was to e-mail some dude, and the shims were import. and that was years ago, and more recent threads from others have tried that dude and havent gotten through. Did I overlook anything in the thread as far as other sources?

thanks!

I'm sure I saw a link from a Mercedes source since Barry left here. Usually I bookmark that stuff but don't have a link.

There were kits and individual sizes. I'll keep looking.

the guy Barry was getting shims from is MIA. His shim kit was THE shim kit to get broad assortment with lots of multiples and IIRC he was selling them for $250. The mini kits from mercedes are pricey and only enough to do one set of injs, maybe. to get the same assortment from other sources is well over $1000, hence the reason I'm not rebulding to sell. You can buy Bosch nozzles on ebay and IIRC they are german nozzles for about $120. Barry was supposed to email me if he ever found another source, so far......

Probably your best bet for just yourself.

If you were doing more than just your own then it would be best to see who's shipping shims to this guy. Or with measurements it wouldn't be too difficult to contract with a stamping house like Bokers or somebody similar and have stock on hand for any rebuild coming to you.
