since im currently unemployed (darn economy) i decided im going to try and keep every thing as cheap as possible to get my pickup up and running again.

Is there a way to test and see if my inj are still good they have been in for around 100K according to PO? will just a pop tester tell me if they are good?

Is there a way to test an IP? PO said he put in a rebuilt replace ment at the same time as Inj. i talked to him the other day and he said that the cold adv solinoid was out and that is why he wired a 12v switch to it? The truck idled horibly before things went south and had been for a while woudl jump from as low as 700rpm to 1500rpm. Lp workes fine i have it wired to a 12v switch.

called diesel specialty in omaha finnaly found there number all i could find was the one in sioux city IA they want $200 to test it and if it has the updated hyd head they want $650 to rebuild it !!! and if its not been updated they want (hold on to your chair) $1250

A pop tester will tell if the inj. are good. I think Pensacola Diesel sells IP's on ebay for about $450

That one says it's for a 6.2, DB2829-4544 vs DB2831-4911, the pump # is different,

Drop in a 454 gasser if you need cheap. The IP rebuild price is in line with local shops here too.
The metering valve is prone to wear on these pumps along with the governor. Adjustment of the idle and replacement of bad injectors can help as this removed a stall on return to idle for mine. I would do injectors before doing an IP. The high idle and timing advance switch on the t-stat housing is a good place to start for high idle issues.

my idle was all over the place and i like the 6.5 i think i can get it back up and running for under 2k just need to figure out whats up with the IP

Send me your pump and I'll check it out and then call you,I can build it any way you want it.
