Temporary fuel pressure gauge??

Hi,I'm from Mississippi.Turbine Doc directed me here and has been a great help to me. I'm having a few problems with my 95 Suburban which I'll get into later. My question is about a temporary fuel pressure gauge. I have a boost/vacuum gauge laying around and I was wondering if it would be sufficient to check the pressure??
 
I've done it before with an old boost gauge i had laying around as a very short time use setup. It worked, but i've since gone out and bought a vac/fuel pressure gauge. Sears has them for ~$30.
 
Aye, air (boost/vacuum) compresses.

Fuel (liquid/solid) does not. They will not read properly even if it is capable of the liquid.

You can get cheap gauges, Harbor Freight has them for 10-12 bux. Its a great tool to have on your 6.5 at all times.

Get about 10 feet of rubber fuel line so you can monitor it while driving also.
 
Avoid running the fuel line directly into the passenger compartment for safety reasons... keep it outside of the cabin. You can, instead, use an electronic pressure sender hooked up to an electronic pressure gauge.
 
He's not using it for full time monitoring I suggested he get a vac/fuel press test gauge for diagnostic readings, about $20-25.

If I did not care if the boost/vac gauge got fuel in it I would use it for rough diagnostic readings just to see if lift is putting out any pressure, but the vac/fuel press test gauge will be more accurate IMO a mandatory piece test equipment that belongs in every 6.5 tool box.

Hey Tim how are you?? I ordered a gauge just hasn't made it yet. I did try the boost/vac gauge since I already have it. With my old LP it was reading about 2 lbs.I installed a new LP yesterday and now I'm getting about 6 lbs. at idle but still running rough. I did clean the grounds but the one that should be at the passenger side intake aint there. I believe it was moved to the frame for some reason. Step by step.

Busy final exams and practical tests here a steam turbine U did okay 95 avg, not too bad for an old addle brained former gas turbine techie, moving to AC generator class next then back to Ms in about 3 weeks.

6psi @ idle :thumbsup: and yes 1 step at a time and stay away from pawn shops :D
