I finally got motivated and timed my injection pump with GMTD scan.

I was able to get -1.85 but I could not get my temperature up to 180 as indicated in the instructions prior to doing a learn. Is this a problem or would the lack of temperature prevented me from even setting TDCO? I am not setting any codes and it appears to be running fine.

I believe 170* is all you have to have. unless you want to move the pump that's probably the max range for that position.

170 is all that is required, I prefer to get to 180 if possible as I once had one that in midst of turning the IP to the new setting cooled below 170 and the TDCO learn command did not happen until it warmed up to above 170, threw me for a loop trying to figure out what was happening.

With GMTDScan I have set it below 170, it doesnt have that restriction. Its wise to have it warm when you do that so all the PCM's cold advance and all the increased idles and what not are out of play, as well as all metal pieces at their warm tolerances. Mine doesnt get over 180 at idle either.

Thanks for all the feedback. Great forum as usual.

Just FYI, I did manage to loosen and tighten all of the ip nuts with a 15mm ratcheting wrench which totally surprised me.

In installed my intake manifold is 180 from it's original orientation during my ATA intercooler project. As a secondary benefit it's much easier to get at the IP that way.

Good to know Buddy, on OBD-II it won't do the learn using ko/ko learn activation if engine is below 170F, possibly it would with a scan tool that has TDCO learn command function. One of you carcode or AE guys have a moment to see if TDCO learn can happen on a cold engine when commanded

Since ya'll in OBD-I land don't have ko/ko ability you have to use a bi-D scan tool/program to activate the learn, but good point there Buddy you want cold advance out of the way, I don't get 180 at idle either.

I command hi idle with my scanner to get temps up, or go for a drive to get engine up to a steady op temp that won't cool down while I'm in the midst of doing a TDCO reset with the MT2500 & ko/ko learn command.
