So I hope 1st not to offend anyone or create a big todo, but I have some ?s. 1st I would like to know the rules around being a supporting vendor (no I don't want to be come one) and also the rules as it applies to us as users. I also posted this in the 6.5 section as this seems to be the area with the most controversy. Please keep this civil and informative.

Not sure what you're asking, AK. Can you be a little more clear? I hate to start off on my very own trek only to find that I'm answering last week's question... :D

Still confused. Maybe I'm slow.

General rules?
You want to know what it takes to become a supporting vendor, or what the rules are about posting links to vendors, or what the vendor fees are, or why we need vendors in the first place, or ... ?

Common problem areas?
Like what happens to vendors who screw over members, or what happens when users post direct links to non-site vendors, or about selling things on here if you aren't a vendor, or vendors hounding members, or... ?

As it applies to us as users?
Like can we post a bad vendor experience, or can we sell things our-own-self, or can we post links to stuff that competes with our vendors, or...?

Sorry to be so thick, but I'd rather not guess what you want and then discover I spent 10 minutes answering stuff you could care less about.

Hi AK... been a long day.

I see nobody has answered you yet - I thought we used to have a vendor thread, but I can't find it; perhaps it got lost in the site upgrade.

No wonder you were asking the question.

Here's our FAQ thread: http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/faq.php

There is a bunch of what you're asking in there... as for the rest, I'm not even sure what it costs to be a site vendor, but whatever it is, buys you your own sub-forum and the chance to advertise on-site, providing you aren't too pushy with members.

Who decides that? I guess we do; it's only happened once, and the guy took the hint that he was over-doing the sales pitch. Then he didn't re-up at the end of his hitch, and to tell the truth, we don't miss him.

For the most part, our vendors are good members of the site; they post fun threads about their trucks, they help people out with technical issues, they pay for access to our members, and so our members can play for free. Mostly, it's a pretty fair trade, for both sides.

If a vendor has an issue with a client, we expect them both to go through an open discussion about what went wrong. Mostly, that solves itself, too. However, if somebody decided to go vendor-hunting, we'd step in, just like we do if a vendor screws somebody over. For the most part, those things just don't happen... this is a diesel enthusiast's site, run by enthusiasts and supported by enthusiasts... our vendors support us, and we support them.

Did I miss anything, or did you have something more specific in mind?
