Super Clean 69 C30 Chevy Auction sells 1-12-16

I miss painted metal bumpers, a sliver of padding stuck to an all metal dash, and 2 knob radios. I must admit I don't miss my back teeth coming loose from the ride.

As much as I love those trucks, it still feels weird to see them in car shows. I can't get out of my mind a
Good running one should be $1200 max. Back in my day...

I have had psychotic thoughts of finding a C20 or C30, putting a 6.5L 5spd in, put a B&W turnover ball in, take a gooseneck load of farm equipment to california, and half way there, dolly down and run the Silver State Classic

If you havent heard of the SSC, the state lets a group shut down a 100 mile stretch of highway just for a road race, many speed classes from 90 mph to unlimited, supposedly some bull haulers ran their Pete and a Western Star in the 90 or 95 mph class, as IIRC under 100 all a guy needs is a crash helmet and a seat belt.

I might just do that with a GMT400 instead, run a 3.42 rear end in one, and let her fly. :)

I have a cousin that ran that sucker unlimited. It sounds a little fun till you go drive that section of road, then it makes you think of rescheduling your year around it. He is a way better driver than me though. He was in nascar for a bit but couldn't compete with the big money.

I would probably piss myself in the 90 mph class. :)

If I could get it to get over 110, I would probably try for 70 mph (or less) through the narrows, and try to make up for it on the flat.

I wonder if the long wheelbase of a ECLB or a CCLB would be an asset or a liability. I would prefer a 2wd, but maybe the wider stance of the 4wd front end would keep it a little more stable....

I paid $1200 for my good running one, that needed another $1200 in work to be driveable, lol.

This truck would go perfectly in my collection of I6 manual classic Chevy trucks....
