Ok I'm getting these codes,,,, again.
DTC 35 - Injection Pulse Width Error (Time Short)
DTC 36 - Injection Pulse Width Error (Time Long)

i'll see the problem for a few days,, the it goes away, for like 3-6 weeks,, then come back,, One time it happened after filling up and using the White bottle of diesel Klean. I drove for a few days, and topped off the tank, and they went away. I switched to the grey bottle and used that for a while, No problems. I have been using a quart of SAE 30 non detergent per tank of fuel. and Nothing else, for the last 3 tanks full. last week it came on after being off for like 6 weeks, I was at a 1/2 tank, So I filled it up, put in the oil, and it is still on.

Now I could see it being 1 or the other but not both :mad2:

so is there a part that could be bad or going bad in the injector pump, that may be causing this? I haven't put the clear hose in the ip to look for air, as each time i thought about doing it, the ses would go out.

truck runs fine otherwise,, just I can't use my cruise,.:confused:

your thoughts???

The possibilities are:Faulty fuel solenoid connection, faulty fuel solenoid, open circuit 935[red wire going to fsd],faulty connection, or faulty ecm. Since they are generic codes they can be set by other codes being tripped.
I'd look for chaffed wires in the extension harness first since it seems to come and go. fsd going bad could cause those codes also.

YA,, I thought tonight when it cools off a bit,, I'd go out and clean grounds,, just in case,, and then take a look at the extension harness. PMD was new when i put it on the heat sink, and has given me no problems,,, I did extend my factory harness, and that has been 3 years to date. This issue first popped up back in March of this year.

35 and 36 can set from almost any other code. Check for any other codes current or historical. Could be as easy as just unplugging and plugging back in that will make a better connection.

Measure the resistance across the PMD connector harness contacts B and F. They go to the Fuel Solenoind in the IP. There should only be about .5 ohms or little less.

You could have an issue with the wire that goes from the PMD to the PCM, which is PMD pin C to PCM pin PD2 (Pink Connector Row D pin 2). You can try measuting resistance across that wire, then measure resistance to ground and between the there wires.

there is a PDF with PMD diagram in this thread, and he went through shooting a lot of the lines for resistance

I just checked the codes, again, after clearing them and driving it yesterday,, and got 35.
So I cleared them again, and I'll get to checking the harness, and get back to you guys,,
Thanx BK and Buddy

So I have determined over the past 5 months,, that adding the oil IS what's setting my SES light!! When I run straight Diesel, with NO Additive. No code,,, and Oil,, get code. I hate getting code,, kills the cruise. :(

My last experience with both of them codes Dave was from a bad new PMD...

Sounds like you are narrowing down the possibility of it being the ND30 wt oil? That could be or it also could just be a coincidence...?

Yeah, I ain't sure yet. No other bad PMD symptoms, have shown up. :rolleyes5: Overkill cooler in great area since day one,,, but that don't mean much when a PMD goes PMS. :hihi:

So, the code has come back, as of 40 gals of fuel ago. I've not used any 30W oil or additives since. It stalled on me once 3 weeks ago, while I was plowing,, then again, last Wend's while plowing out the big blizzard we just had. Then yesterday, at work, I started truck to warm up a bit, went into lounge for 5 mins, came out, truck was off. wouldn't restart. :mad2: Took FSD, W/Killer heatsink, into bus garage (where I work )
and tightened the transistor nuts on the bottom. Go out to truck, install, and Vroom,, starts up, and I head home like a bat out of He11. It stalled 3 times in the mile I had to go home. Each time, out of truck, tap on FSD with pocket knife, starts, and runs a few mins at a time.
Anywho,, The PMD + #9 resistor I ordered from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.m748&item=330526945428&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D6879042818248784569#ht_2434wt_939 will be here on Monday! :)

So the moral to the long story is a PMD can go PMS in a number of ways,, showing a number of goofy signs. And maybe I can get back to using some fuel additive with out coding again. I Like my cruise.

And GM had a TSB about codes 35 and 36 to just start by replacing the PMD. Funny they replaced so many IPs for just dead PMDs when they were told for these codes to just replace the PMD first.
