I figured I'd try cleaning up my wheels before I buy new rubber. I should have done this sooner! Here are a few pics. Not sure at this time if I'm going to polish them or what.

edit: I had more pics, but they were to big to load

Polish them. Use a variable speed grinder/polisher with a lambs wool buffer and 3M polishing compound. Takes about 20 minutes per wheel. Do it 3 to 4 times per year.

What did you use on them Gerald? They look good. My rims are pitting and the clear coat is mostly gone.

I used aircraft stripper to get rid of the failing clear, then sanded out most of the pitting with 2000 grit wet sandpaper and steel wool. I could have spent more time on them, but hey, it's a truck :) I may polish them one day when I have the time..or maybe not. It took about 6 hours for the project.

I would suggest you polish them also. Even if you just grab some mothers polish and a drill mounted "powerball".

Not because it will make the "shiny" but for the protective coating most polishes leave behind.

Well, it also makes them shiny!

:)

Yikes. :yikes: 6 hours. And their not polished yet. Sounds like a big job. :D
