If this is in the wrong spot...sorry. :biggrin5: So A few months back when I had the truck in the shop, the tech put in my borgeson int med steering shaft. Everything was nice and there were no clunks or rattles in the steering.....about 2 weeks ago the damn noise came back. It sounds like its coming from the steering wheel area where as before it was coming down by the firewall. Is there a steering column bearing that is known to go bad at all in this area.....Thanks

I think mine is starting to go as well. I went through 4 shafts on my 04 LLY.

Replace the stupid *plastic* bearing with the updated one and it will never clunk again (at least mine hasn't since I replaced it). It had worked it's way out of the slot in the end of the steering column and was loose in the bore. Being a contortionist is a + to swap it out, but it's very easy. Un-bolt the ISS from inside the truck, push it to the firewall, reach up to the column and yank the old bearing out. Put the new one back in making sure the tab on the bearing engages the slot in the column.

The updated one is greenish with needle bearings and the old one is white with six(?) ball bearings.

Did you have the pitman and idlers swapped out at the dealer when you had it in?
No...

Fixed the problem with a free hose clamp from my buddies shop.......I was doubtful at first thinking it wouldnt work and BAM...no more damn noises.

i've never had a I-shaft clunk. my b-ville was supposed to have one and it didn't, and our truck doesn't have one yet, knock on wood.
