Hello from Austin, Texas! After searching high and low for over a year, I finally found a 2 Door Tahoe with the 6.5...and less than 100K on the clock! Having had her for 3 weeks, I am really excited about getting her into DD shape. I've been a Chevy guy my entire life and still own my 2000 Silverado from the high school days. My late father has always been a diesel guy, and this is the beginning of my own diesel path. Couldn't be more excited. This is a wonderful forum and I appreciate any and all assistance that is provided to me.

The truck has the PMD relocation kit installed; other than that it is bone stock.

A few questions, if you don't mind:

1) I'm looking to get the most performance out of the 6.5 as possible. Price isn't too much of am extreme concern here, but longevity and reliability of the engine is. I'd like to get the most performance without really putting the long term reliability of the engine at risk. I have no idea where to start with this. I am relatively proficient in the garage, but would also like to locate someone in the Central Texas area who could assist. I've recently discovered the A team turbo, which looks like a very attractive option...

2) More near term, my truck keeps throwing the P0401 code. I want to delete the EGR but haven't found a reputable way of doing it. Any suggestions? I'd rather not spend the $300 to throw a new valve in it, just to have it fail again at some point in the future.

3) The truck came with a massively heinous lift on it. I'd like to install the factory (or near factory) suspension back in it. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help. It's a little overwhelming at the beginning, but I'm really looking forward to a long relationship with my 6.5.

-Eric

Hey Eric, welcome to The Truck Stop!

The best thing you could do to start is read all the stickys. A wealth of information here.

If your not in a hurry with replacing the lift kit, put an ad up on Craigslist for someone wanting a lift kit. The 2 of you could swap out and help each other do it at same time saving $ and labor- just a thought.

Welcome!

Leroy in my signature is in the same state as you are. This is the equivalent of several states difference to 'others' and may cost you sales tax on parts. :hihi:

A good start is to remove the crack prone engine and start with a Optimizer or other redesigned 6.5 non GM made engine complete with heads.

Vin F intake for EGR. Tune for power and EGR fix.

Then you can get really crazy with a BD spool valve and ATT.

Real far over the edge is a Yank high stall converter with triple disc lockup clutch.
