I'm finally getting ready to go mess with the '94 and its been sitting for about a year now.

Besides the basics like

Good batteries, and at least 5 gallons of fuel I was thinking about a new fuel filter to go along with it...

How should I prime the oil pump, and is there anything else I need or should take with me? (closet parts house is a good 30 minutes away)

I'm sure theres more I'm forgetting, but thats all I can think of atm..

thanks aaron

I'm not very anal, I would probably put the batteries in and start it. 1 year isn't very long. My combine sits for 11 months every year.

You could unplug the fuel sol. fuse in the engine fuse block and crank for 15-20 sec. and crank to prime the oil press.

To prime the IP put a 12v source to pin G on the ALDL connector, that will run the lift pump. Info is in the stickies.

Right on I read the info on the IP, just was not sure about the OP.. I'm pretty sure it needs a pmd, But I want it running first so I better (more accurately) diagnose it.

On my 95 all you have to do is place the gear selector into drive and hold the key in the start position, that will run/check the LP. Not sure if that works on a 94 though.

I think it was buddy who told me that is 95 specific.

If your PMD is nfg you will need a known good one to get it started in the first place:smile5:

Last known issue was...

It would start and run/ drive for a while then cut out/ stall... At least according to my dad who was driving.

Pretty much my plan. lol

I've tried repeatedly to get somebody to tow it to my house, but no such luck.. (trucks over 100 mi from me) So if the mountain wont go to Mohammad, Mohammad must go to the mountain.. lol

I agree, just jump the lift pump and open the t-valve to get some fuel flow, prove out that the lift pump is working and make sure you have fuel to the filter manager. No need to prime the engine. I don't see where you are located, if a cold climate it would be good to run the block heater overnight to get some heat in the engine before cranking, it will help the oil flow.

If you are driving it 100 miles home assuming it starts up, it would be nice to have a good pmd with you in case it stalls out part way home.

I'm in Texas so I "shouldn't" need the block heater, But If yall think it would make a difference I'll plug it in as soon as I get down there..

Agreed, I "plan" to have one with me depending on cash flow; Nothing else I can get it running and then go back with a pmd, it still needs tags and inspection any way so I doubt I'll be pressing my luck by driving it back just yet..

Which part of TX? I am in North TX and it is only about 40F in the morning.

Right now, you should be fine without block heater. It is above 32F. A few weeks ago, we had a bad global warming trend of 2 weeks below 32F (only happened during global warming), you may need it then.

I'm in N. Houston, trucks in Flationa off I10..

I was just thinking about pluging it just b/c.. Figured the oil "might" flow a little better.
