5.0kw

The 5.0KW I think is a misprint because if you go to AC's site they list 5.0KW in the title, but in the actual description it says 2.5KW. The difference between the 2 is the 323-447 is there basic reman, and the 336-1911 is there professional line. The new starter(337-1002) is cheaper and can be had for even less on AMAZON, but it appears to be a made in china import slapped in an AC DELCO box from what I could find.

regarding second pic -the prestolite:

That's the one that comes in the hummer, the only reason they run that one is it CAN BE waterproof. When they get rebuilt some workers don't always put the seals back in because they can be hard to deal w/. As far as long life-no better than the reman proline. btw it weighs twice as much, no joke. I have one that needs a solenoid but I would rather use the minis, which I submerge in water and had no ill effects. Submerge in mud is a different story: drive it home wash it of and pull the starter for cleaning before trying to use or ZOT POOF then pull the starter.

It is really a case of spend $ for a powermaster and save labor, or the other way around. I have a couple buddys here that we put powermasters on theirs and no problems, but idk how they handle water, mud or whatever. My hummer is easy peazy starter drop. My rear bracket actually goes to the engine mount instead of the block wacky but works well.

Of coarse if Leroy was an authorized Powermaster dealer with a group buy...

If You have a good rebuilder, that is the way to go. The guy we used to have around here used only the best parts and his stuff always lasted a good long time. I sure do miss having him around

I would find a local rebuilder.

Here in my area, they warranty it for 2 years.
They have a lot of the GM starter alternator in stock, too.

just an up date.....got a reman from napa with 3 year warranty......truck lit right off at 13f not plugged in...sure spins fast!!!!!...need to run it more to see if it fixed the hot start trouble too....now i'v lost my brake lights:mad2::mad2:
