In my efforts to work out some hinky stuff with boost and such, I've decided to delete that intake spacer, place all sensors in the holes Avante tapped in the lower for 635's build and then use studs to hold the Peninsular upper in place.
I'd like to report my findings but I got it all done quick to get the truck in for a tranny rebuild with upgraded torque converter.
Since I'm bored with the truck gone and the wife out of town for a couple of weeks, I jumped in today and cleaned up a GM-8 I picked up for 635 who wants to replace his GM-3. Yeh, I understand that many feel there are 'better' turbos...got it, thanks. But this one worked for his driving style and needs in the past and so that's the choice. Deal with it.
The PO had oil feedline issues apparently so it needed some cleaning. This is after a lot of elbow work so you could see the color of the compressor housing and the contour of the mid section
Gary, my buddy who did the spacer machining, has a media blaster which made quick work of the rust.
It has taken three attempts to get the paint on the heat shield "right" and I just stripped it for a fourth try. Something mighty stange about the way the paint doesn't want to adhere to this one. The sanding after wire brush on bench grinder has been 60, 180 and 320... oh well.
Did I mention I was bored?
Heatshield in Titanium Blue which is my block's color
Silver as requested by 635 befor I stripped it again
