Where do you guys get your parts from? I'd like to find a good online site thats alot cheaper than the local rape jobs...

Hoses n pins and light small stuff.

Back when I plowed, I always got my basic stuff at TSC. Have lots of local mom and pop places that were cheep too. I just had a E47 though

Shop and compare. Most online stuff is at about the same $$ as local shops, but they normally don'tor can't answer why something don't work or how can I fix this. They just sell parts. The problem is if your local guy is not there and all your online guy knows is parts who do you ask when you cant figure out what is wrong with your plow. FWIW in my shop all customers are equal if you buy stuff from me, advice is free and we go the extra mile to make sure you stuff is working right. I even take care of the guys that bought from my competitor's, but the guys that only call when they need advice, or the 3 am repair cause his online parts guy is not open, well he goes to the end of the line after all the customers who supported me get there stuff fixed. I'll still help, but the ones who let me earn a living get my attention first. Online is great for a printer that you toss out, not something that pays your winter wages.

Matt, are you on plowsite forum? several of us here are. good resources there

Yes I am. Only partake in the fisher forums.

As for supporting the local guy, I don't have one, I did buy a new cutting edge from a guy last year, but he does mainly municipal accounts.

He has parts, but they are REALLY inflated, thus the desire to go online. I also tend to do ALL my shopping at night. My days are jam packed with work, and I just try to stay a week ahead of my allowed repair weekends for parts to consistantly trickle in, Then when free time arrives, I can work on the truck instead of go shopping.

I'm all for supporting the local guy, but if he has to jack up prices so high that I feel like I'm getting screwed.... perhaps he should find a cheaper lease, or make less of a profit.

If I get in a jam, I go online first anyhow.

I try my absolute hardest to get backups of any breakable parts or something that will end my plow day, ie Alternator, Belt, Hose, Pins, nuts/bolts, fluid.

If I need a part in a jam, I will be more than happy to pay the inflated prices for that. But I refuse to pay for inflated prices in non winter months.

I have changed in alternator out in 1 hours since failure while plowing. Lucked out happened at 8am when stores were open. This year, I already gave my junk core to a local rebuilder to rebuild for me as a backup.

Seems I chew through them plow season.

Fyi while CPW has a ton of stuff on hand they are not cheap on most stuff if it is OEM, the knockoffs they have have are less but one wonders about the quality. If you local guy is not "close" I understand.

On a brighter note, did you got any snow this weekend? We saw a trace and it has been darn cold.

way too damn warm over here. i doubt the weather would change that much up by you Matt. just sitting here, praying for snow.

Nope, But my plow is in pieces, so if there is one thing that can make it snow its that!! lol....

Cold, wet, rain.... worse thing possible.

Just to make you happy I'll call a some local suppliers and get some prices. I live in the 2nd largest city in new england, so there must be a few....

now that I used all the online sites to price shop and figure out what I need I'll call around.

Problem is, I don't have much time during the day, I have jobs to do and work alone. So i can't dilly dally. Gonna get rained out Friday though, so thats perfect.

Glad to see Matt, now get that Plow ready. Ol'Manwinter is soon to come knocking

First place I went to,which I thought would be the cheapest, Prices were average double, and the most expesive part (the lift rod) was TRIPLE!!! I said See ya later............ Total around 250...

2nd place ended up being 130 total, And I was about to just go with it as After shipping web price was 120, but I'd rather support local....

3rd place where I got my cutting edge from last year, ended up being 97bux!!!! Online was 103 before shipping!!!

Needless to say, I bought. Even told him his prices were great, and i wont even bother shopping around anymore...

Parts be in Tuesday, I didn't even have to pay up front for them as I would have had to at #2 place. (which doesn't bother me to do so)...

Ended up getting a primary pivot pin and a new hose (one of mine had a ding) so that will give me something to do while waiting for tuesday. As well as a gallon of Fisher 'blue' ez flow fluid.

So, thanks again Blizzardplowman.... i feel better about supporting local guys, especially the one who isn't a crook.

They had a nice 9' snow dogg plow inside setup stainless blade, was so light i could lift it easily... Not doing that with my plow. Had the blizzard type rear spring forward trip design, which I never used before, and a easily removable lift piston, which is a great idea. Having the one built into the powerpack is silly.

I did ask all 3 of them if they open at night during storms, and they all said no. THat would have been another deciding factor.

Forgot to mention, flurries into a dusting of snow while I was shopping for plow parts... Ironic.

Even though i'm months early, it still had the same 'ambiance' as rushing the day of the storm :)

Just hope that is a sign of a nice snowy winter. I want a new truck, the 2011 with the 6k front end has me thinking upgrade :)
