As some of you know here in California starting in January we are under the rule of Hitler (Although it has felt like it for quite a while).:smile5: All 98 and newer diesels have to pass a visual smog test. All smog components need to be installed in order to pass. Does anyone have a soot trap/diesel cat they're not using?

Thanks,

Rodd

Just Get some one to make you something that looks like one..

Go down to a local muffler shop and see if one of them will give you an old junk gasser cat. Then bring it home knock it out and put it in there. Or just a cat cut in half longways and then sandwhich it around your exhaust and weld it in to make it look like one. I have one, but would hate to see what the shipping would be on it to you on the other coast.

From an old smog cheater (70's)

The best sneaky fix I know of is to get a junker cat, drill it for a straight pipe through the monolith catalyst, tack weld the pipe inside, a little shorter than the cat. Some inspectors are known to whack the cat to see if it's empty or not. These are a set and forget setup, and there's no loss in performance. ;)

So glad mine's a '94. My cat guts all fell out, now it works like a resonator, mellows the sound for the straight exhaust.

Thanks for the info. I have checked a few muffler shops and they have gotten rid of all the ones they had.

I could mail you the one off my parts truck.
Anyone know what one weighs?
Shipping from AK could be slow, or expensive, or both.

I would have hated to see what mine would have cost to ship, it must have weighed 80 lbs when I removed it.

Lots of room here in the mid-west if you want to escape hitler, but the commies and marxists are trying to take over here, too. For now we can still have our diesel trucks and all the guns we want. Pretty sure they'll eventually want to try to take both and put us in goofy electric bubble cars. Went to a home show in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago. A guy had solar panels to make electricity for your house. Cost was about 40G, less some pretty significant tax incentives. This will be good to charge your electric car, but forget about nuclear. And by the way, we should get pets we can eat when we're tired of them. A lot less carbon foot print than a dog or cat.

I just cut mine out and it is sitting around waiting to be scrapped. I don't know what it weighs. I'll be home Friday and will get an estimate. UT to CA shouldn't cost too much to ship.

PM me if interested.

All my pets are edible. For my kids' ball python. Every time it get out I hope it eats the cat. :D I always said growing up I would never get a cat unless it was for my dog. Well 5 years ago my wife brought a cat home. Unfortunately the dog didn't get hostile toward it.:mad2: Aside from the mice I feed it, it has eaten a hamster. The neighbors cat that runs around the neighborhood had kittens and she was trying to give them to my kids. I brought the snake out and said if you don't mind them being part of the circle of life we'll take them. :D The pets that I want to eat are Bison's pets that he raises. mmmmmmmm. I love bison. :drool5:

Time to Come to the north, here we're still wild and free(for the time being anyway),to hell with the autorities:D

Thanks for the info. I have checked a few muffler shops and they have gotten rid of all the ones they had.

Around here the shops sell them to the scrap guys.
They get between $25-$100 depending on the size.

With that in mind I don't think there just going to give you an old one for notin.:nonod:

One of my favorite pet books is "101 Uses for a Dead Cat" by Simon Bond. Available at fine book stores everywhere...look in the "Humor" section, not "Cook Books."

I am looking to buy. The only problem is in CA it is illegal to sell used cats.
