Been a bad year, in fact 2010 I wish to go away and never come back but..I was in the woods Monday cutting firewood with the CUCV. Some rough terrain in there. No match for a CUCV though. So I thought I smelled Oil on the way home . I live 30 miles from where I was cutting wood. I get home and see the puddle of motor oil under the truck and the trail it's leaving. I smehow punched a hole in the oil filter but did not run out of oil. I was only 2 quarts low. I can't beleive after driving 30 miles home on the highway, motor screamin cause of the gearing, that it only lost that much oil. Yes, today I am thankful indeed.

there is not even 500 miles on the oil change. Welcome to New england, the rust center of the world. No, rust wasn't the problem. A tree brach (one of many) I ran over to get to my wood probably punhed a hole in it. It's all dented even though the pics don't show it. where I cut wood, there are no roads.

Sorry to hear that Kenny. Hope things start turning around for you little by little. Where you at least able to get the wood you wanted?

Your very lucky kenny. point blank that's what it comes down to. What filter did you use? If a stick poked through it somethings wrong with that brand and i'd never use it again. The only thing i've been able to get through an oil filter easily was something with a sharp point on it(screwdriver, awl, etc) and those are still metal. You sure you didn't find a stray piece of something metal and it came up and hit the filter? I'd check your tires for any stow-away metal ASAP.

I"ve had good luck with the Wix 2 quart filter. I'm running one now on the blazer. It's only 2 inches longer than the stock filter, and according to Wix filters to the same micron as the stock sized Wix filter. Not a bad investment.

Lucky indeed. I sympathize with you about 2010. Not been easy for me either. Neither is the first half of 2011 come to think of it.

Few years ago I had the oil changed on my work truck at Jiffy Lube (contracted, we have to go there). Drove home (50 miles) and as I pulled in the driveway the low oil light came on. Idiots didn't put the filter on all the way, I was pumping it right out the whole way home.

Yesssss very lucky. Usually by the time the warning light comes on the engine is already toasted.

I have tried on several occasions to drive a sharp object through a filter, Damn, really tough to do.
I can't imagine a branch doing that. I suppose anything is possible.

Hope things turn around for ya Kenny

You guys had to see where I was and yes I got the wood. Full Load. I literally had to drive over trees to get where I was. Gonna have to beef up some skidplates.
