Someone asked me today........

besides to look nice. the only reason I can see is to mark off where the body ends or stick out. other than that I haven't got a clue.

Used to see overhead objects like bridges in the dark. Started mainly on big-rigs.

Required by law on any vehicle over 80" wide to let oncoming traffic know where the sides of the truck are. Otherwise just for good looks.

In Washington the outter two lights are known as clearance lamps and the center three as identification lamps. They are designed to show the width and the height of the cab. The marker lamps on fender's of dually pickups are ment to do the same thing, show the width of the vehcile.

hahaha DEERE your the exception. Your truck has like 10 something marker lights on it. Frankly If I saw something like that coming down the road at night I might just end up driving off the road trying to figure out what the hell it is

How many lights is he at?

I have two LED's in the bumper holes, two mounted beside the grab handles on the cab pillars, five on the roof, eight lining the box sides, and four more across the rear bumper.

So that's....
21 marker lights. ):h

That is one sharp truck!
I have 9 cab lights, 9 under the tail gate, 7 on the tail gate, 3 on each side of the frame, 6 on the roll bar, 2 behind the grill. 2 under the bumper. 2 led strobes in the nose holes and 2 on the roll bar. and a mini overhead amber... and a cabinet full of more to put on. all LED
Here is an old pic with my 94 on the right without the strobes.. my 96 6.5 on the left before i spun a rod and parted it out..

Currently for clearance lights, I have modded the front side markers so the tops light up, an amber LED running/signal under each door, modded tails so the entire light is lit, and a 01+ LED dually clearance light.

I recently bought OEM cablights on ebay, but have been hesitating drilling the holes for them. My parents HATE them with a passion, not that they are stopping me but..... yeah.
