Sorry Mods if in the wrong spot. But the project hits on a few different topics.
I need to cut a piece of steel on the pin-box of my 5er,and was wondering what you guys think.I have marked off the area in question. It won't clear my bed-rail at a 90% turn.I am really happy with how the truck and trailer sit now but this must be addressed.I am out of adjustments on the hitch.
I placed tape on the area that needs to go, do you guys think this will affect the integrity of the steel? There is angle pices all welded together above, but its just flat steel below that in the area I would like to cut.Sorry if I haven't explained very well.
I am also going down to the a steel place down the road and see what they think.
Oh I have a cut-off wheel I was going to try for the cut. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking at what you are trying to do I think it will work fine. Cutting with the cuttoff wheel will take I while I think, but it will be a cleaner cut. If that is what you need to clearance and not use that hole then go for it.

Cut and De-burred lol. Will paint in am and give her a test run.Took about 20min a side with cut-off wheel but in 115 temp outside I was rather warm lol.

I agree no harm done. But I have a question, why not just move your pin box down to thse holes. It would only raise trailer a couple inches and would (maybe) have given you the clearance you needed. Not that it matters now.

With a 5er, bed rail clearance is important.

That's what I was wondering also... move the pin box up one set of holes and it looks like it would have been above the areas you wanted to cut off.

Edit: and while I'm here, let's move this to the RV thread where 5'er hitch discussions take place without fear of someone listening in :D

Pin box was maxed out already the pics I took were after I moved it. I had no more adjustment left. These new duallys sit up rather high I was surprised as well.I tried every avenue believe me before I had to come to this conclusion.
I had it adjusted the way you said with clearence but it was almost 11"inches over bed rail (too high for me).And from front to back was almost 4" outta level.
Since said adjustment I am at 7-1/2" bed Rail and front to back is only 3/4 outta level (thats for 35 ft)so it looks real good now.
Ya I went back and fourth on every adjustment I could do it was nerve wracking:cryin:.
