Snug PMD/FSD Driver Fastenings ?

Hello , my first post here.
I'm about to install a (factory) New FuelInjectionPump (DS4) on my 6.5. I see the new pump includes a PMD!
Should i dismount the PMD and re-torque the mounting nuts for the transistors, or is Stanadyne thought to be taking the Quality Control on their PMD production line a bit more seriously now ?

Background:
I bought my pickup used with 175kMi {a remanufactured DS4 had been installed proir my purchase}, re-torqued the driver mounting nuts per GMCTD's advice (@TDP) , added some Grounds and redundant series Filtration , ran in PMD configuration, and the thing operated flawlessly until it failed to start {actually- Started , stalled after a minute, and never since delivered fuel to injectors , despite ESO clicking nicely} some months ago , at 213kMi. I know the FIP had wear , since it would not maintain even speed at part throttle -- since i'd bought it. There were a couple occasions when the truck's engine 'bucked' and failed to get to full cruising speed , but those (consistent with advice provided by TurbineDoc@TDP) were due to a clogging fuel filter.

I have procured a Beta heat transfer pad , i'd just like to know if it 'remains' a good idea to tighten the transistor mounts...
-Thanks ,
Tom m

P.S. - i plan to post at TDP and Place , only need one good opinion {per poster!}

Hi Tom glad to see you made the trip.

IMO what you should do is remove it and remote mount that driver, very high probability it will die if left on the IP.

If leaving on IP for now out of necessity, remove plastic covers, remove nuts 1 at a time, burnish where the nuts clamp down so no chance of corrosion acting as a insulator/killing tron flow, and retorque them as before on the other sites "be careful" snug & a little more is all the torque you need, if you have 0-15# INCH torque wrench, 10 # INCH is plenty and won't break the studs mounting the transistor that act as the base leg.

Agreed. I know that some have been able to eek some additional life out of the PMD/FSD after re-torquing the nuts on the Stanadyne.

I would seriously consider buying a new unit and remote-mounting it OUTSIDE the engine bay, or getting the Heath remote kit.

Welcome to the site.

-Rob :)

Does the IP come with the new grey colored Stanadyne PMD ?

If that is, you should not need to retorque the nuts as they are bounded (That's funny, I remember Stanadyne claims that was non sense when D-Tech started doing that... :D)

Anyways, grey, black or else, relocate it outside engine bay.
