No cereal involved here. When turning the wheel, engine off, I get a loud crack type of noise that is coming from the steering box or area around it. Box is less than a year old rebuild. New front end 2 years ago and appears ok. Engine on moving around it can be heard over the engine.

Just replaced hub bearings and this job with turning the wheel from side to side brought out the noise. Not specific to and spot in the box in the travel. More load specific.

Any ideas? Nothing causing it stands out on close inspection with a hand on front end parts as the steering wheel is moved.

Tightened the box bolts - not loose but turned with a 2' ratchet on them. This extra tightening solved the noise. Thx.
