Will winter fuel cut the smoke that bad? I don't ever recall my truck not smoking at ALL. I can run my big tune, brake torque, try my hardest and just barley a LIGHT haze.

Colder Air is more Dense and better for the Truck too, so you're prob. getting a more Complete Burn now.

Yep. Just when you found some punk ricer you wanted to lay a big cloud of soot on...:mad2: DAMN!!! winter blend.
It's changed some this year too because there are some new additives available to the refiners that will do the same anti-gel properties as kerosene but cost less and supposedly maintain a higher cetane rating. I've read some about it in Diesel Progress Magazine and if I see some good info on the additives, I'll post it.

I seriously doubt you guys are running a winter blend. If you are, I'd be surprised. Its usually the northern states and Canada.

I for one actually dont mind no smoke. I ran a PPE for a while and it was too much for me. I could fog an entire intersection and you'd think it was dark out. I didnt like it much. I'm totally content with a smokeless tune.

I bet I am Nick. I can actually smell the Kerosene. Backing out of the drive, you drive right though your exhaust, you can catch a big wiff of it. Or even warming it up, I can smell it.

There used to be a site where it showed lines across the continental U.S. and it would list the blend of each line and how above that line, the blend got more diluted with kero. If it is split, I bet it isnt very much.

Where I moved from on the NY/Canadian border, we were running a 70/30 mixture. 30% kero can really ruin your mileage. The further north, it went to a 60/40 and I think the extreme north runs a 50/50 split.

Tennessee does get pretty cold. We can see single digits here no problem sometimes.

I'll see if I can figure it out.

But, it is defiantly a difference just because I have ZERO smoke now.

I don't know anything about winter blends...but I do know that when it's cold out...the exhaust takes on a different odor and seems stronger...I think it's just the temperature IMO...

same here...no smoke

Found my problem.

Fuel filter fixed it, it will now fog out a whole highway like it use to. :D I only had 10K on that one. Difference is I buy most of my fuel from the Walmart now, maybe they have bad fuel? Something to think about...

Walmart sells fuel?

Walmart sells fuel?

Yes sir! They really got everything and if you buy a gift card first to pay at the pump you get 5 cents off or something. The only wally world around here that sells it you have to carry to go to so ya dont see me at it

Around me it's Murphy USA at the WM fuel stations and it was when I was in Kirksville, Mo too. Been buying fuel there for years and have never had a problem with it but most everybody with a diesel PU buys there so it's high volume. B5-B20 so it says on the pump.

Just as Mike says, it's a Murphy USA. Wal-Mart owns it? I'm assuming since they honor the 3 cent gift cards.

I used a Exxon station for years and other random stations and never experienced this before. Don't get me wrong, I'll still buy my fuel there. Could of been a bad tank, no big deal.

10 k and you were due anyhow Jeff. Especially since your program is looking for a higher fuel flow.

True...

My buddy changed his fuel filter for the first time on his Cummins, he was at 98K and was the original owner...

Well for once when I really needed to smoke one good, mine did put out a huge cloud of smoke (atleast it looked huge in the mirror as the cars headlights hit the smoke). Today I had been to the dentist and had that feeling like you always have after going to the dentist, when I was motoring down the 4 lane and run up behind this roller skate of a car in the left lane. As usual I can spot a liberal driver especially when I see all those bumper stickers on the car and they are acting like they are doing some good by holding up traffic. The speed limit is 55 and this save thy earth type person decides to run at about 52 MPH in the left lane along beside other cars. I followed that mess for about 2 miles when goober head decides to finally put the right turn signal on and get into the right lane. Of course what happened next was I pulled up along side the car and proceeded to mash the go pedal way down (further than it had been down in a while) and as I looked back in the mirror I saw all kinds of smoke and it almost looked like the cars headlights were blocked out for a few seconds. I really didn't mean to smoke them that bad but I guess it had been a while since I had blowed the soot out of it. Normally my truck does not smoke much but if I ease around for a while and then get on it hard it does put out some pretty good smoke. Also I have determined that my fuel filter now has about 10,500 miles on it but it still runs dang good with no issues. I guess I need to get that thing changed or tackle it myself one day, weather permiting. You guys were talking about Wal-Mart diesel, I have fueled up there a few times and it is disounted if you use a Wally Wolrd gift card.
