Smoke switch

So i have been reading on other websites about a smoke switch you can make youself by tapping into the MAP sensor, jumping the OUT and 5V wires, making you truck not boost. There for when dumping fuel you would roll a whole lot of coal. Anybody else seen this, or have done this. Let me know and what you think about it. My bully dog blows smoke, but i want to make a train, chooo chooo.

And dont tell me just to go buy efi live, because i dont have 800 bucks just laying around right now, maybe some day but not now.

Why not just buy a dsp2 or dsp5 switch and get Vinny to make you a smoke tune? Then you could sell the Bully Dog and probably come out ahead.

AFAIK, the "Smoke Switch" mod only works on LB7's.

LOL!!!! Like F**K it olny works on the LB7's!!! I can make a double lane highway diaspeer behind me. I did it once when my buddy was following me and the guys in the oncoming lane has to slow down caues they couldent see the highway for a few hundread yards!!! And i have seen it on an LBZ inperson many times. I highly advise you go on youtube and type in "Smoke Switch" i bet u will see more then LB7's

well i just wanted to see if this could work or not, cus it would be like a 5 dollar smoke switch.

1-I have a dsp5 switch in, and bought a efi license but vinny couldn't get the tunes to work, and yes we tried about 15 times, and it would always end bad, so i just gave up. Well at the end of the day with that bullydog gt, i bought it for 300 used, and sold my outlook for 200, so i got a programmer for 100 bucks so i did.

2-I drive the truck every day, but the kid has got to have his fun to.

Sorry I won't partake in helping make following traffic disappear. Not my bag of tea. Kinda like helpin a drunk by givin him his keys. I did not realize this forum was into worthless info takin up space in tech forums.

I think that you will throw codes and get a CEL if you mess with the MAF sensor via a switch.

As mentioned above, a custom tune will get you smoke, as will a PPE Hot +2 on the higher settings, both from the exhaust and the tires.

I guess that you could fabricate an EGR valve-like contraption in your intake that operates with a switch inside the cab to restrict air when you want to make smoke at will. Or you could wrap your air filter in a plastic bag and smoke all the time...

Well that's alright, aint going to try this anymore. One day i'l have to get some custom tuning, just cant afford it right now. Thanks for your outlooks on it, and no i dont have a egt gauge, that's another thing on the list, but it's a long list.

The smoke switch will throw a code if its held on for more then 30 seconds. You could run it for like 20 flick it off then back on and keep the coal rolling. Thats what we did on buddys LBZ before he got EFI LIVE.

Alright, that's fine. AFAIK means as far as I know. I knew wrong.

I understand that smoke is cool, but engine damage, and messing with a $100 sensor? Not the smartest idea i've ever seen.

al i did not want to come off like a dick, well yes i did, but you have to understand one thing. the diesel engine thanks really in part to the duramax has made a huge comeback. the mileage gains, the minimal amount of issues with them ect all have helped alot. it really burns my arse when folks get off on blowin out an intersection, or 3 lane highway with smoke. it does nothing for anyone. you want to do that, go to the drag strip and run 14 seconds doing it. not on the streets. when your ready buy efi live and once you see the power you can make with virtually no smoke you will look back on this request and realize how foolish it was. trust me it can be done rather easily.

I understand where your coming from, i just wanted to see if it could work, i'm not really one for showing off up and down main street. But i thought it would be kindof funny every once and awhile when my buddys are behind me. I'l will just have to suck it up and get efi live, and i have seen the gains with it before, there is not anything you cant do with it. Ya and i wouldnt want to burn that sensor up either, thanks for your info guys.
