Well now on to the newest problem. The last couple of days my truck has slow started like the batteries are going dead. Right after it starts the volt gauge bounces a few times then normalizes. I need to check the grounds so that is in the works. I was thinking that since it normalizes and drives fine that it points to one of the batteries starting to fail. I'm thinking the alternator is making up the difference while it is running. It will probably only do that a short time longer and once it gets to the point of no return, it will need to be replaced. What do you guy's thing?

Tap your e-brake on to kill the daytime running lights and see if it cranks over alot faster.

Load test Batts.

Test alt.

Start planning on getting a replacement. I got one from Autozone w/lifetime warranty for 140. Core was 10, so i never bothered returning it, thinking of having it built locally, asking if he can wind it tighter? so it puts out more at lower RPM for plowing reasons.

Lifetime warranty means poop to me if it dies while i'm plowing, so I want a spare that I can change middle of the night when its inevatbale to fail.

I actually start it w/ the e brake fully engaged so that shouldn't be drawing volts/amps. I am almost positive it is one of the batteries. If it were the alt the batteries would have died by now.

I got the the batteries tested and the driver side failed. The pass side had 550 cca when it is supposed to have 700. I'm guessing the bad one was drawing from the good one. It is starting right up now. If is starts slow starting again it will most likely be the alt.

Should replace em both, I know its not cheap.................
