Hi all,

considering how rare are available good blocks here, and shipping costs when ordering one, we think sleeving blocks should be a good alternative.

Any of you know a good source of sleeves, if they do exist ? Some has already sleeved a block, and what do you think of it ?

Any thought ?

Any sleeves I have seen are sort of universal.
You just need a reliable machinist to fit it properly,he should also know how to source the proper bore diameter,length varies for application so they are usually ordered long and cut down after install.
 
Every engine that I know have that has been sleeved runs without any concern until it's time to overhaul then they get replaced again. So I don't see why a good engine builder wouldn't be able to sleeve 6.2 or a 6.5 without to much trouble, and have it last.
 
I met a guy who swears by sleeving 6.5's. He said he has never done an oversize bore, just changes out the sleezes. I didn't get his name, he stoped me in a parking lot and asked if my truck was a 6.5 from the factory. No one belives that GM put diesels in 1/2tons.
 
Been running sleeved motors for a long time. My current 6.2 /6.5 hybrid is a sleeved 140 block. Knock on wood, it has taken some serious abuse and lived to this point. I would sleeve all eight if I had the money and when it was time to rebuild it in 500 thousand miles, sleeve it again and run it.

If you can't get a good source for sleeves as HANK1948 he is an excellent machinist and would be able to help you source a sleeve. They shouldn't be that hard to find.
