Are they any good? Need some new shocks for the wifes truck (stock Avalanche 1500), and the Bilstiens in came with are big bucks. I try to stay away from the cheapie parts store ones, but these Skyjackers I found are pretty cheap and they sound good in their ad. Not the hardcore offroad nitro version, the regular version.
Not really looking for a diatribe on why Bilstiens are better and worth the money, I can't afford them. Just looking for someones personal experience with the Skyjackers.
Personally I like KYBs, but they are too much right now too. Just trying to get by on the cheap, probably not going to keep the truck another year.

Are they a gas or a hydro shock?

they're hydro, in doing some more research I ended up talking myself out of them. I just ordered some pro comp gas shocks. the hydros would probably have been good enough, but across the board the hydros all all a lot cheaper than gas, so I opted for gas. Found a good deal through 4wd hardware.

You made a wise decision IMO. I was also looking for a budget shock and chose the Skyjackers. Horrible, worse than the 75,000 mile Rancho's I took off the truck. The just don't work. No rebound control, no compression.
