Who here Uses SK?

I'm Slowly Converting my Collection over to SK.

I Bought ALOT Last Year, right before the Strike. Place were Blowing Out Complete Sets for about 75% Off.

I was just Wondering if anyone else Uses them as well, and has had to get anything Warrantied, how it was Handled. I'm not having any Problems with my stuff, but it's always Good to Know ahead of Time.

I haven't bought many, but my dad did years back when he was wrenching. I know the Snap-on truck used to sell them around here as a cheaper brand but still of good quality.

Yea, the Mobile Tool Guy that goes to my Friends Body Shop Sells SK, Snap On, and MAC.

Funny thing I got a Crows Foot Set, and it came with 2 17mm Feet. So I was Talking to the Tool Guy one Day when I was at the Shop, and he said no Problem, as long as the 17mm that I don't need isn't Used, to Give it to him, and he'll give me whatever Size is Missing. I thought that was pretty Damn Good.

I have SK tools that I got from my father. I broke a 1/2 inch ratchet (inner gear type ratchet ring) and tried to get them to fix it. They continuously refuse to fix it. :???: Lifetime warranty? :???: I won't buy anything SK anymore. At least Sears replaces anything broken.

A part of my collection is SK and have never had to replace anything. I was impressed with them when I broke the two bolts loose for my EGR blocker plate with a 1/4 drive ratchet.

How long ago? Maybe it was during the Strike, and that's why you were Denied.

It was last summer, 1 year ago. I took it to a tool place, and they apparently sent it to SK, and it was returned to me with them stating they wouldn't fix it. Not even the traveling tool truck guy would do anything about it. As a matter of fact, he was embarrassed and felt bad. I still have it in the same condition as when I sent it in. Don't get me wrong Bill, they do make good tools, they just did not stand by me when I tried to get the ratchet fixed. The tool was in above excellent condition as well. Except for the broken little metal gear thingy that makes the ratchet click.

That's exactly when the Strike was going on, so I'll Bet 100% that's the Reason it wouldn't get Fixed. They weren't even Shipping Tools to their Suppliers or anything. The whole Company was at a Stand Still. Give it a Shot one of these Days and I Bet they'll take care of it for you.

I did not know that James. I will try again this week and let you know. I actually already purchased another 1/2 inch ratchet last summer, but I'll try and get it fixed anyway.

SK are pretty good, at least the old ones were.

I have some sockets that were made by PROTO that are a cheaper version. They are no longer made and they won't warranty them either.

I've had some SK tools in my set over the years. Only wrenches though and they were good quality. I swear by Snap-On ratchets after having them for longer than most of you guys have been alive  and they are equal to or better than any other in quality.

Are you still making payments on the Snapons to Mike? They are nice, but also the most pricey.

X2..

My Craftsman work great for the money. I bought a set of Kobalts to carry around the other day and I must say they are also nice.

Most of my hand tools are SK. Can't say I've ever had any that needed to be repaired or replaced.

Most of mine are Craftsman...I think...I'll have to go look in my buckets to be sure... (inside joke, but true)

The company I work for here tries to buy S-K as much as possible and I had placed a 3K order for tools last september 29. Our supplier did not tell me that had basically closed down due to them filling Chapter 11. So in this past year as some of the items were found in other distributors inventory I slowly got most of it filled. Any tools I have broken and need replaced as warranty right now wont happen. They were bought out by Ideal tools near them in the Chicago area and Ideal I guess had decided to get the company all in one general area so they built a new plant and they still do not have much in the pipeline yet and this is a year later. I still need some tools and my boss wants American made if at all possible so I have to explored other tool makers now as well. But this is what I have been told up to about 2 weeks ago from my vendor on S-K.
I have personal tools at home that I got in 1973 from my first job and I like them a lot so I will still try to get them if possible.

I'm tellin ya, look on Ebay for SK.

That's where ALOT of my Sets came From, and they are all New, Genuine, and got them for 50-75% of MSRP.

Also, Google the Part Number, then Click the Shopping Tab. That'll Bring Up a Bunch too.
