I have noticed on a few other rigs that they have a vertical brace going from the top to the middle of the door, instead of the one that goes way to the bottom. Here is a picture of mine for comparison. I want to eliminate that bottom brace to clean up that rust spot, and want to know where I can buy the other piece.

I just cleaned up the bottom 4" of both doors, and painted them and the cab bottoms with bedliner. Even though there is no rot/rust on the cab, Extra protection can't hurt.

Hey Matt, why dont you just get rid of those west coast style mirrors, with all that hardware.......you could replace them with the smaller square, truck style, with the little elbow arm, you would still have a good site line (view) if thats what your worried about?

Years ago, I had 1987 GMC Sierra 3500 Flatbed ("rollback") with those west coast mirrors and I was always catching that hardware on a gate or fence and bending the crap out of the door and the mirror posts......Needles to say, I swapped over to the smaller truck mirrors and was very happy, without sacrificing any viewing area.

On the other hand, if you like those "Dumbo" ears, that's a different story.

*This is not a negative comment, meant to offend you or the truck*

I've been contemplating the other styles too... just a bigger job and my $$ already has plans this summers... gotta start saving for winter again........... If they were free... but they're not...

LOL, I can imaging to you guys who never look at ol' Dumbo it looks crazy mirrors!! Even to me looking at that picture, theres a whole lotta mirror there!

I do like the hugeness of the mirrors when I'm plowing though... All that backing up dead tired middle of the night... Can't see anything in the rearview mirror or turning around FYI. Blocked.

Nice looking rig BT... very nice.

Thanks for the kind words, guys..........BTW, when I need to weld something, I'm comming to see you Leo, for a nice tight bead  and maybe we'll fire up that BBQ, (has that thing been broken in yet?) I'll bring all the Porterhouse steaks and adult beverages! :drunk1:

Whaddayathink Leo? :D

Let me know if your comming Matt......So I know how many steaks to bring!)
:partay:

Yeah, i know the braces you are talking about. Remember when i just got my Kodiak door handles of a topkick? That truck had your mirrors but didnt have the brace that went down to the middle of the door. Instead it is a smaller brace linking the upper and lower bars together. I wish you posted this a while ago, i could have picked them up for you. Yeah, im not a fan of those mirrors, i think someday im going to put the dodge "rotate" out mirros on my truck. Matt where do you live?? You all have nice lookin rigs in those pictures. Nice paint jobs, i wish mine looked even half way decent...

Louis, the new owner had a pig roast a while back, it worked just fine.
Don't worry about the steaks, Alberta has some pretty good beef:D

Mass... Updated profile, didn't plan on using this account this long... DTR says it resets my password but it never E-Mails me my new one...

I'd love to head somewhere, but Can't afford to take time off for vacation... When I can afford to take the time, I can't afford the vacation! LOL....
Got into a score of some Filet Mignon's last week though... Ate about 3lbs of that over the weekend.

Had a London Broil last night, and it was tough as nails compared to the FM,... still good!

Getting home from work when the wife and kid aren't home is my vacation (right now) enjoying it with DTR!

Figured it out now.

First of all, I don't come empty handed!
Second of all, I'm definatley not questioning the quality of beef in Alberta, Canada.
Lastley, have you ever heard of a little place called, "Peter Lugar"?

Saw what you are talking about today on a late model 3500HD cab chasis. Don't think the brace will work on our mirrors because the brackets are different.

What you could do is get a piece of conduit and squish the ends and bend as needed. Then after you have a pattern made copy it in stainless or aluminum tube.

Matt, can you get me a picture and a year of truck that has the bracket that you want? I'm trying to find it in the GM parts catalog, if I can I'll get you a part number that you could then price.

Whoa, whoa:D

Your hands won't be empty if they contain the "adult beverages"
Peter who?:D
