Should I keep my deep drop bumper when I get a receiver, or get a standard bumper?

Hey guys, will having a deep drop bumper be a disadvantage at any point when buying or using a receiver? Like more expensive, lower weight rating, too low of hitch height, etc.

Being a 2wd with stock rubber, I am thinking I need to get a half ton 6-8" drop step bumper rather than keep this 10-12" drop deep step bumper and run a receiver that is made for the standard bumper to keep hitch heights within limits.

Am I thinking right on this, or do I need to go for a receiver made for the deep drop?

on my 94 6.5 4x4 I had a body lift so I put on a drop step bumper to close the gap between the receiver hitch and bumper...

you could put on a body lift when/if you get a receiver hitch and the bumper would remain useful just have to fab a couple new brackets to raise the bumper up the 3" to compensate for the body lift...some rubber strips cut from an old bed mat and pop riveted to the underside of the bed would fill the gaps you would see from the side between the bed and the frame...then you could put larger tires if you'd like...

oh, this ol girl is going to see stock rubber, and nothing else! :)

Do you think that a hitch made for the drop bumper would sit too low for most trailers? Im thinking a shorter bumper and a shallower drop hitch is what it needs, but I am unsure, so opinions are welcome!

I never knew they made a frame receiver hitch just for trucks with drop bumpers...

the only way I know of to utilize that bumper with a frame/receiver hitch, is to put a body lift on it and then make some brackets to raise the bumper up to stock position so the drop bumper doesn't block the receiver/frame hitch... and that's only if the drop is not too much to where it still blocks it...mine was a 4" drop...I made mine work with a brackets that raise the bumper up just over 3" and to compensate for the body lift...it looked real sharp...Don't know if i ever had pics of that rear bumper though...My wife hated following me home at night cause all that chrome reflected her headlights right square back into her eyes...

I have seen a couple of people with the deep drop bumper place a hole behind the license plate(it was on a hinge) and the receiver was behind it.(the hole in the license plate. It kept the receiver hidden and was still available when it was needed.

I have seen this on a few older deep drop bumpers over the years. I have not seen it since I have been back from Germany.
