Rear shocks from my '99 Suburban:

This truck came from Illinois. Surprised the rest of the truck is not this bad.

Installed some Rancho RS9000XL adjustables, a Father's Day gift from my son, Colbythekid. Found a great deal on these at www-truckaddons Set of 4 for $320 AND they give you a $100 gift/debit card for each set of 4, essentially bringing the price down to $220 for a set of 4.

I agree with Bison. Just because the shields are rotted(mine are as well on the 95) doesn't mean the shock has stopped functioning. An easy test to see if your shocks are doing there job: Go for a drive, and aim for bumps and whatnot in the road for about 15 minutes. Stop and feel the shocks(not the shaft, the other part). If its warm or somewhat hot, the shocks are doing there job. It its scalding hot, you need to consider shocks with a reservoir to help reduce temperatures as they are being worked to hard. If they are cold/don't feel warm, then the shocks are shot and should be replaced.

Just do the bumper test. Stand on the bumper and make the truck go up and down and jump of. It should stop immediately(It helps to be 40 lbs overweight...).

Well, at 167K miles, they looked bad and I wanted new, so Rancho RS9000XLs are in and the stock units are out. We'll see how the ride is with these.

The 95 needs them. When I drive down some of our freeways here in so cal it starts bouncing up and down like it's on hydraulics and someone is hitting the switches. And that's without towing anything.
