Shock type not brand

On the truck listed in my signature what shocks do I need to get for the rear? I am not asking about a brand really as much as what to spec them at since it is a cab chassis truck. Can I just use shocks from a normal GMC 3500?

Suggestions for the front are welcome as well but I figure they are stock but I dont know that either.

I would like suggestions on brand as well but that is secondary to getting the correct type.

Not sure on type as I believe the cab and chassis models if it is a 3500HD are differrent. If it is just a 3500 NON HD model then I would think a set of 3500 shocks would work. As for brand, I recently switched to BILSTEIN HD's and kick myself for not having done it sooner. GABRIELS were getting old having to change tehm every 2 years, espescially since I don't drive it that much(last set lasted 30K miles and were SHOT!).

pictures please. unless it is a 3500HD with the monroe conversion, then it is a factory box off truck, not really a true chassis cab. IMO, a true chassis cab has 34 in spaced parallel frame rails.

otherwise, I agree with Fermanator. I dont own a set, but it is pretty well unanimous wherever you ask, the Bilsteins are the way to go. after powertrain repairs and mods are done on my stuff, Bilsteins are next on the list.

yes 34" rails straight. With apx 60" from the back of the cab to the axle. I do not have the factory body lift where there is a plate/spacer under the grill but above the front bumper. So I do not think it is an hd. Although the frame looks bigger then a standard truck.

It could be a strange package/combo due to that it was once a state truck from Montana or so I heard.

What do you want pictures of exactly? The mounts? The frame ? The axle?

Also I have set a standard normal non dually bed on it with all four wheels on and they do not stick out far at all. I have not measured the axle to see how wide it is but it looks narrower the a normal dually to me.

well that is strange, I wasnt aware of that existing. maybe they did a crew cab conversion on a reg cab chassis cab? I assume 16 inch rubber?

mainly pics of the frame would be interesting.

does your front tires cut a path that goes right between the duals? I think a dually pickup's front tires and inside duals track down the same track.

interesting for sure!

I have not checked the track but I would think it would be between. To cold to take pictures of it now. Do you know of anyone in my area that would be curious enough about it to look at the setup before I put a bed on. I have purchased the 2 beds to make into one but have not started the process yet.
